Cigarette maker Lorillard’s 2Q profit up 10 pct on higher pricing, e-cig sales, lower costs

Volumes of value-priced Old Gold and Maverick fell 9 percent and 4 percent, respectively. As part of the industry wide push to diversify beyond the traditional cigarette business, Lorillard acquired e-cigarette maker Blu Ecigs in April 2012. Electronic cigarettes are battery-powered devices that heat a liquid nicotine solution, creating vapor that users inhale.
